Preparation to have a baby \(^o^)/

Preparation to have a baby \(^o^)/

What is the most common question will be asked to mom-to-be or new-mommy?
Of course it is all about preparation before she has a baby.

Ops, I'm not pregnant again okey! Not yet!
This is about Rafiqh!

I don't know about others, but for me, I did lots of preparation just before I found out that I was pregnant... Like most of you know, it takes me (oh I mean US, hehe) 2 years to have a baby. If you read my previous entry, you will know why. So, I had 2 whole years to get myself well-prepared!

Right after I become a wife, I was totally ready to become a momma, but I had to wait until THE RIGHT TIME. Only God knows how I felt.
In the meantime, I read anything about pregnancy, baby, delivery yada2, you just name it, I really mean ANYTHING from all sources I could found - internet, magazines, books... I bookmarked everything which I thought are important, and I kept reading them again and again. I searched for mom-to-be and mommies' blog which were helpful and full of information, I printed out all articles and put them in 1 file, bla bla bla... Sound crazy hah?! hahaha
When we were ready to have a baby, I increased my supplement intake - calcium and acid folid pills. I continuously took the supplement and only 6months later, I got pregnant! And the supplement amounts has increased once Rafiqh in me, haha...

In the first trimester, I was badly in morning sickness mood. In second and last trimester, I was totally healthy and energetic. I could not ate a lot, it caused me to vomit, so I ate a bit but frequently. Everyday I ate yogurt, fruits, high-calcium crackers yada2 just to make sure I had enough nutrient for my baby. I avoided anything that might harm my baby such as coffee, tea, junkfoods and etc.

On my 20weeks of pregnancy, I started wearing maternity clothes. I bought 3 maternity pants, few maternity blouses, nursing bra, maternity shorts and the very comfortable sandle. Thanks God, I still had few big one-pieces and blouses to wear.

When my pregnancy almost 5months, I listed out my baby and my needs.
For baby:
- baby napkin - 10 pieces
- barut 3 set (3 different sizes) - 3 pieces each set
- sleeveless rompers - 3 pieces
- shortsleeves rompers - 3 pieces
- overall - 2 pieces
- shortsleeve shirts + long pants - 3 pairs
- longsleeve shirts + long pants - 2 pairs
- shortsleeve shirts + short pants - 2 pairs
- booties and mittens - 5 pairs
- cap
- swaddling blankets - 2
- blanket - 2 pieces
- towel - 2 pieces
- handkerchiefs - 4 pieces
- minyak zaitun
- minyak telon
- diapers
- baby wipes
- cotton buds
- grooming set -> hair brush, nail clipper
- feeding bottles - 2
- diaper bag
- stroller
- car seat
- drawer
- basket (for dirty clothes)

For mommy:
- nursing pad
- maternity pad
- confinement set (I bought Leesa Formula) - jamu, bengkung, tunku, krim
- breast pump
- multivitamin
- mommy bag (for hospital)

Oh gosh, I can't remember all the things already, sudah lupa laa...

The whole budget:
- baby and mommy' stuff RM700
(not including stroller and car seat)
- confinement set and pantang procedure RM800
- flight tickets for both mommy and baby RM3000
(real payment was over the budget +RM300)
- mommy's routine check up RM500
- hospital bills RM3000
(again, over the budget because of the operation - c-sect delivery +RM1000)
- baby's check up RM200

We spent at least RM10,000 at Malaysia. I didn't calculated our expenses in Japan.
I think it is normal to buy so many things for the first child. Then, for the next baby, the cost will be cut off itself.

Thats all for now.

For the past ten years, scrapbooking has become increasingly popular; as each year passed, innovative individuals have taken what started at Dorothy Smith's kitchen table and turned it into a billion dollar industry, an industry that sprang out of an emotional mood experienced by Dorothy and taken to the bank by women with financial goals and marketing skills that surpassed genius. Today, this "hearts and flowers" hobby has far surpassed that old female pastime of arranging and rearranging straw flowers amid gaggles of cutsy geese, a hobby most men tolerate for only so long before taking flight from the home for temporary escape from the flocks of quakers and pretty little hearts, all of the trappings labeled as arts and crafts. Now, thanks to Dorothy Smith, all of these hormonal variances of mood, creativity, frustrated states of mind experienced by women of nearly all ages beyond 19, can get it together and keep it together in a scrapbook purchased from the "Scrapmart Department" of the world's largest discount houses. For the ladies who will not or would not be seen at such a mass of humanity searching for tissue bargains, Barbi's with tattoos in the small of their trim little plastic or vinyl small of the back anatomy parts, they will spend millions of dollars at privately-owned scrapbook specialty stores. Congratulations to the female gender for finding a pastime that is gaining more fans and attention every day. But what about the males who look longingly at this ever-so feminine activity? Will we simply burst into one of these little stores like a bull in a China store and tell blatant lies about wanting to buy our mothers-in-law something special like a SCRAPBOOKING KIT? Will we hide away in our workshops by the ban saw and fiddle with these bits of sentimental trappings. Yes, we can paste tickets to sporting events into certain areas; we can glue the currency bands that once kept our bonus hundred dollar bills tight and ready for a safety deposit box insertion. What about it? Before conventions to fun places like Las Vegas were poo-pooed by President Obama and some of his staff, we could have pasted almost anything but the pasties into our gruff and macho scrapebooks; we could have put matchbook covers into our collections before smoking became a sign of moral derelection and character weaknesses (I have a message for the non-smokers who insist on bans against smoking everywhere but one's private is a simple easy to read two word message!). Now in these economic times that are so terrible that even the news media is starving to death daily, will scrapbooking be the one thing that will save the nation, the one "hands-on event" that will keep our minds off of the economy?
